Can we really bring back dinosaurs? Was the “dire wolf de-extinction” the first step? And why on earth are scientists making woolly mice? Join us for an interactive workshop that separates science fact from science fiction and learn what ancient DNA research can actually tell us about extinct species, evolution, and the future of biodiversity.
The session will start with a short introduction to ancient DNA followed by a tour of the Laboratory of Paleogenetics and Genetic Conservation and a hands-on workshop. Try on real biosafety lab suits and learn how scientists handle ancient DNA. You will have the opportunity to learn pipetting and measure DNA in real samples. No prior scientific background is needed, just come curious.
Class will be held in English.
